LinkedIn Marketing 101
LinkedIn marketing isn't just for job seekers or Fortune 500 CEOs anymore. Today more small business owners are taking advantage of the business networking platform to find new customers and build their brand.
Here are 5 simple steps to get you started:
Begin with your personal LinkedIn profile
Instead of simply listing your experience, use your LinkedIn profile to tell the story of your professional life. Include phrases that highlight your brand's message and build up a list contacts that know you and have done business with you. When it comes to contacts, quality bests quantity. Ask your contacts to write recommendations that describe why they choose you. Next, move on to your company profile.
Make your company profile your brand's digital home base
Anyone can build a website and advertise their brand, but a LinkedIn marketing company profile gives you credibility. Ensure you use the same company name in the current employment section of your personal profile and your company profile to link the two. For example, if you company name is Creative Wares LLC, ensure you use the LLC on both.
Use your logo as your profile picture and fill in all of the available boxes to build a solid profile, including founding date, company size and industry. Craft a message that accurately describes your business, your goals and what you have to offer your customers.
Utilize the products and services tabs for LinkedIn Marketing
This is the best part of your company page. It allows you introduce your products to new customers and offer a place for existing customers to recommend your products to their contacts. Don't forget to link each product to its page on your website so users who want to buy or learn more can do so easily.
Invite your contacts and customers to follow you
Invite your personal LinkedIn contacts who have worked with your business to follow your company, and add a LinkedIn follow button to your company website and email signature.
Update your company status at least weekly
Status updates help you get on the radar of new clients. Post status updates about up-coming events, company news, sales or any other information that will grab your followers.
Now that you are LinkedIn marketing you can take full advantage! Join groups to share your expertise, post ads to drum up new business and learn as much as you can about the world's largest business network.
